Cute as a Button LO

Good Morning!

The theme for Sweetsassydiva's this week is buttons. It couldn't have come at a better time for me, my Grandson IS cute as a button!

I started out with a frame from Sophie. I used my Gypsy and enlarged the frame to 9.67 x 8.71. I added a square with rounded corners from George and Basic Shapes at 5.3 x 4.7 and centered it in my frame. While I was cutting that out in light blue, I used my gypsy again and removed the square and then used the "hide contours" button to only cut the outside frame. I cut that in dark blue. I took a 5x7 picture and trimmed it down to fit inside the frame and glued it all together. And that's when I remembered I didn't take pictures! :/

I used country life to cut out my letters @ 2. While that was cutting, I started sorting through my buttons.

I also cut out one button from the Wild Card cartridge, cut @20. I used a piece of purple ribbon to "sew" it.

Once I glued down all my words, I picked out all my buttons. I attached them using glue dots. I added a blue bow to the top of the page. All that's left to do is find a 12 x 12 frame and hang it on my wall!

Another Sketch

Good Morning!

I found this sketch the other day, and I had to try it. I love the LO's Liz makes, I'll be making more of them.

I also made some cards. A friend of my Sister's asked me to make her 25 cards, she had seen some I made for my sister, so these are all repeats, but I don't think I have posted them before. (Sorry this is so lacking on details, I have my Grandson all weekend, so I don't have a lot of spare time right now.)

Frosted Design Card Sketch

Good Morning!

I followed another Frosted Design Card Sketch today. I needed to make a card for my BIL, and I just couldn't settle on one image in my head, so I worked with this sketch instead.

The Sundae is from Just Because cards, cut @ 3.5. Happy Birthday is from Stamping, cut @ 1.5 and the 66 is from Sweet Treats, cut @ 1.

I also needed some Sympathy Cards and some plain basic cards, so I made the following. The cross, my favorite one!, is from Easter 2010 and cut @ 4.5. The paper is from K&Company, Julianne, except the first one.

2nd Boys Rule sketch

Good Morning!

Today I followed another sketch from the Boy's Rule blog. The pictures are from last summer. My husband follows the "Smoking Meat" forum... so I had to use the "smokin hot" as my title. I somehow doubt he'll be impressed, but I thought it was funny. :)

Frosted Design Sketch and She's a Sassy Lady

Good evening!

The Frosted Design challenge was to use brads and/or eyelets and for She's a Sassy Lady the challenge was to use glitter or stickles... which is right up my alley!

I cut the frame from Sophie @ 10.5. The flowers were from Sweet Treats, cut @ 1.133. Happy Spring is from MS Seasonal, cut @ 3 x 5.

Boys Rule sketch

Good Morning!

While I haven't finished last years LO's yet, I had to do another one of my Grandson.
I found a new sketch on the Boys Rule blog. I used my left over Enchanted paper pack from Paper Wishes and some stickles.

Before adding the stickles:

After adding the stickles, I think they made such a huge difference! Of course it helps that I LOVE this paper too.

Finished LO:

Heart Box

Good Morning!

I found this Tutorial over at Splitcoaststampers. While I don't have all the heart spellbinders they used ~ nor could I find them at this time of the year! ~ I was able to use my Sweetheart and MS Elegant cartridges. They do such an awesome job at SCS on their tutorials. I can't come close to explaining as well as they do, so I will just explain what I did differently. :)
I made two boxes, one with the lid attached and one without.

From MS Elegant cartridge, I cut 3 white hearts at 4.13 x 4.31 and 2 cardboard hearts the same size.

From the Sweethearts cartridge, I cut 1 heart out of patterned paper at 4.43 x 6.40. I cut 2 smaller hearts of patterned paper at 4.08 x 5.89 and 2 of chipboard at the same size.

I also cut 1 piece of patterned paper at 2 x 12. (I did have to trim that piece to fit at the end.)

On the scalloped hearts, I attached a white heart to each side of 1 scalloped chipboard and 1 white heart to one side of the remaining scalloped chipboard.

I attached the 1 large patterned paper heart to the top of the first heart.

I attached the small patterned paper to one side of each small chipboard heart.

On the Tutorial there is a short video at the end that explains everything.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Because I ended up with a fair amount of paper scraps left over from this project, I decided not to add them to my already huge collect. I used what was left to make up some blank cards. (The butterfly 3D stickers are from K&Company, of course! lol)
I also did the inside of the cards.
I did NOT glue down the inside pieces. There have been several times where I've wanted to add a type written note, but I already had the inside done and it wouldn't look good with white on white. The insides are all ready to go and inside the card, but I can switch out the white piece if I need to.
To make things even easier/faster, I have a Modular stacking box with blank colored cards already made up.
It took me less than 10 minutes to make up 5 cards! The people I usually send cards to prefer the more basic cards. Not as much fun to make, but they like it and that's what counts. :)
Frosted Design Sketch
Good Afternoon!
I was surfing the web this morning while drinking my coffee, and ran across THIS post! I love what the design team had come up. Even though that's not normally how I do my scrap pages, I decided to try it.
I only used my bug to make the fur babies banner. The words came from Elegant Cakes, cut @ 1 and the banner is from the Wedding solutions cart, cut @ 2.
The bling is all Recollections, from Michael's.
I'm pleased with how it turned out.
DCWV Sketch
Happy Valentine's Day!
I found this cute sketch over at DCWV and decided to use it for my Grandson's first sleep over! {It will look much better once I'm able to print and add this picture to it!}
