Spring Blooms

Good Morning!

Today's theme at Sweetsassydiva's is Spring Blooms.

I used Flower Shoppe for 2 of the flowers and one leaf. The rest were flowers from my stash. For those who follow my blog know, I'm working on using up what I have before I buy anything else. To make the flowers from Flower Shoppe, I used the first one on the cartridge, cut @ 3.

I start rolling it with my tool from Hobby Lobby. I like to roll my flowers tight, but that's personal preference.

I added a glue dot to the bottom and the flower is complete.

Complete, but boring. lol I added Strawberry ice stickles to the petals.

I added liquid pearls, petal ink to the center.

From Paper Trimmings I cut 2 floral borders, at 1.5 each. Adding stickles to one border and pearls to another. I also added some left over swirled gems around the flowers.

I cut 4 pictures into various sized circles for something different. The main picture is 4 X 4. The light pink mat is 4 1/8 X 5.75 and I used Perfect Plumeria ink around the edges. The hot pink mat is 4.25 X 6. I added 2 colored circles matted on white for my journaling.

Good Morning!

I am loving the sketches Jenny Even's does for the Boys Rule blog!!

While I wasn't sure how this would turn out, it's not really my style, I love how it turned out! Of course the pictures of my Grandson at 1 month sure helped. :)

Art Nouveau Cards

Good Morning!

I worked on a couple of cards this weekend between playing with my Grandson. All three are from Art Nouveau. The butterfly and vase with flowers were cut at 3.5 and the tulips were cut at 4.5. I added stickles and glossy accents to each card.

Butterfly Wreath

Good Morning,

For my DT post over at The Bugbytes this week, I decided to use the Circle exclusive cartridge, Sophie. It's a great cartridge that I haven't used nearly enough!

I cut out the butterfly, using the doily feature to get the wreath and the butterflies from the base and base/shift feature. The doily was cut @ 11. For each butterfly I used Design Studio and and sized them to fit where I wanted them.

I didn't want to use chipboard, so I used my DCWV Shimmers paper, which is fairly strong paper.

I typed up my saying on my PC and printed it out. I used the hinge method to make sure it was even when cutting out the circle.

The hinge method is simple to use. I took a standard 8.5 X 11 printer paper and put it on my mat and cut out a circle from George @ 6.70 using my Gypsy.

Leaving my mat IN the machine, I used the "load paper" button, I removed the circle.

I placed a piece of tape on the top of my paper to keep it's placement. I then put my printed page under the paper on my mat to get it exactly where I wanted it. Once I made sure it was securely stuck to my mat, I removed the 1st page. I cut the circle again... never removing the mat... and it came out perfectly.

I ran all my butterflies through my xyron machine and started attaching them on my wreath. I lost a few butterflies to Sassy's feet, she couldn't resist playing with them! Once I finally had all the butterflies attached, I added the circle to the center and then I added some stickles to some of the butterflies and let it dry.

While the pictures didn't turn out well, it's gloomy outside today, I was happy with how the wreath turned out!

St. Pat's Angel

Good Morning!

This week at SweetSassyDiva’s the theme is Luck of the Irish. I was figuring out how I wanted to do this project as I went along. I wasn’t sure how it was going to look when I was done with it, so I didn't take pictures of the process.

I cut the Angel out @ 20 from the Christmas Solutions cartridge, so I had to cut it in pieces. Thanks to my Gypsy, this wasn’t a problem!

I cut out the upper body first, along with the hair and the floral vine (from MS Elegant) and flower on a 12 x 24 mat.

Next I cut out a larger portion of the Angel for the yellow dress and the top cut of the wings, cut @ 11.75.

The solid part of the wing, also @ 11.75 in dark green.

The bottom part of the yellow dress:

I trimmed the brown hair and added it to the flesh colored face and added that and the hands to the yellow part. I glued the two yellow pieces together and added some green ribbon to cover the seam. I printed out my saying on velum and glued that to the top of the skirt. I took a piece of my Reflections rhinestones cut it down for her necklace. I really need to invest in some Peachy Keen face stamps, but my crafting budget has become my “spoil my Grandson” budget. LOL
