Mother Nature at her worst!

Good Morning!

I was so happy to see the sketch up at Creative Scrappers!  I've been looking for a sketch to do a layout of our pier 6 years apart.  During the worst flood any of us have ever seen at Fox Lake and the worst drought we've ever seen.  The title for my layout is Discover Nature, it doesn't say if it's good or not... so I went with not!  :)

A few photo's I didn't use from 2012

A few extra photo's from 2006...

Despite their opinions, my husband and step Dad can not walk on water!  LOL  That's just how far under water the pier is.  The whole island (at the end of the pier) is under water.

Have a great day!

Memories

Good Morning!

Once Upon A Sketch has a great sketch posted!  For their challenge, you must use their sketch AND how you can interpret the phrase "Do all things with love" on a layout.  For those of you who follow my blog know, I lost my cat to cancer on New Year's Day.  While I love(d) all my cats, he was certainly my favorite and fit this theme.  He was second only to my family.

My take on the sketch...

The word Memories was cut from Home Decor at 1.5 inches.  On the doily I cut out the center of it for a different project and layered two circle.  I attached a white ribbon around the center of the cut.
The Journaling says: "Rummy & Spikey were so close.  They loved to sleep together in the sun, play and sit together watching the birds and butterflies out the window.   When Spikey died, for 4 ½  years afterwards, Rummy would sit at the door and cry at night.   He never got over the loss.  He stopped crying at the door about the time he got sick.  By the time we felt the first tumor, his body was covered in them.  The vet put him so some meds, but it only gave him a few months.  They died 5 years and 10 days apart.  They were both very special cats.  The love they had for each other and our family was amazing to watch!  Never were two cats more loved then those two.  (Sshh, don’t tell our other two cats! Lol) "

My Creative Sketches

Good Morning!

I took some time this past weekend looking around for some sketch sites.  I found a few good ones, one of them being My Creative Sketches!  While I don't particularly care if they give away prizes or not (although I will admit it's fun to win!), I love the design team and what they've created!  Ok, the prize this month is pretty great too.  :)  If you love following sketches as much as I do, be sure to check them out!

Now, on to the sketch...

For me, the best part of this sketch is the ability to use scraps!!  While I did great in the beginning of last year using my scraps up, towards the end of the year I got lazy and used full sheets instead of looking in my (Many!!) scrap drawers.  Everything on my layout was made with scraps or left over parts!  The background paper is the other side of yesterdays layout.  (Double sided K&Company paper)  The title was the other half of a 12 inch title I cut up a few weeks ago.  The gem balloons are the left overs from yesterdays project.  All the scraps are from the same K&Company paper pack.

Thanks for looking & your great comments!
Have a great day!

Triple Stamping

Good Morning!

Before I get into my project today, let me start by saying I am NOT a stamper!  I try, but I just can't get the hang of it.

Splitcoaststampers has a tutorial up for what they are calling Triple Stamping.   I've bought layered flowers before (more than I'm willing to admit to! LOL) and they were called Pyramids.  Anyways, I wanted to try my hand at it and hoped that just maybe this time I could stamp something and have it turn out.  Because of my "stamp issues", I only have one large stamp and it wasn't as big as SCS called for.
I used some scrap paper I had on my table from yesterday's mess and pink ink.  After I stamped my image I layered each piece and put them together.

I seen the potential and got started using good paper.  I started out with 3 pieces of white paper, 4, 3 and 2 inches and red ink.  I also cut 3 pieces of pink patterned paper cut at 2 1/8, 3 1/8 and 4 1/8.

I like the twisted look, so I used some stenciling tape and put my papers the way I wanted them and stamped my image in red.
Since it looked rather plain, I grabbed my perfect pearls, brushes, water and heat gun.  I just added the ivory color to the roses.
I'll remind you here of my first comment... I am NOT a stamper!  lol  I did use the image above and made it into a card.

Since I wasn't that happy with my image and I thought I can't be the only one who can't stamp, I set out to try using some patterned paper and doing the same thing.  I had more luck with that!  I cut 3 of the same images at 4 x 4.  One the of pieces I cut 1/4 of each side and on the other piece I cut 1/2 of each side and put them together using foam strips to pop them up.

You'll notice I didn't layer these like I did the stamped image since the stamping leaves a small void.
I also tried the same thing using spellbinder dies.  I only cut out two circle since I wanted to put them on top of the matching image and made the following card.
For me, I prefer the square image.  Stamping would be so much easier since I don't often have 3 sheets of the same paper, but we seen how that turns out!  :)

Have a great day!
