Boys Rule sketch

Good Afternoon!

I finally had some free time this afternoon to do the Boys Rule July 20th sketch!  I've had two pictures set aside and I knew what paper I wanted use... I only lacked the time to do it!

I have to admit first of that I drew my inspiration from Jenny Evans, found here.   She does the greatest sketches and I always love her take on them.  :)

the verse on my layout...

It says...
Grandmother
You go by so many names-
mother, sister,
Grandma- wife,
but what you are
is always the name
Someone to trust,
someone who loves no matter
someone who shares.

Thanks for looking and all your wonderful comments!!

Creative Scrappers sketch #217

Good Afternoon!

With the heat index in the 100's today, I decided it was a great day to play in my craft room!  It's 3:00 in the afternoon and still 97 degrees.

I worked on the Creative Scrappers sketch today.

My take on this sketch...

I don't have my pictures back yet, so I did a quick computer print.  Once I pick up my photo's I'm sure the picture will be so much cuter!

Thanks for looking!

Boy's Rule sketch

Good Morning!

Last week over at Boy's Rule, they posted a new sketch.

What really should have been a simple layout, actually took me a few hours to finish.  I have an old picture of my family, (I think I was around 13 at the time!) that I wanted to use.  I just could not find the right papers.  I finally settled on two sheets, but I think they might be a little to busy.  I do like how it turned out, but I don't think it did the sketch justice.

Live, love, laugh and family were cut from Home accents @ 2.5.   I added a lot of liquid pearls and my white gel pen.

Creative Scrappers

Good Morning!

Creative Scrappers has another sketch up, #216.

I'm all caught up on the pictures I had printed to scrap, so for this one I was just going to do it without them and add them later.  I have some great K&Company paper I wanted to use, so I went ahead and put the page together.  I keep a box of old(er) photo's that I decided against scrapping for one reason or another, so I looked through there.  I found 4 pictures that I took at the beginning of summer, but I never felt they would work together.  I tried them anyway and I liked how they turned out.

Stuck on U Sketches

Good Morning!

Today I was able to play along with the awesome design team over at Stuck On U Sketches.  Not only do I really like their sketches, but I love the style of layouts the designer do.  Not to mention they are so friendly there and always leave encouraging comments.

Their sketch...

My take on it...

I used Picturesque for the photo corners, stamping for the rattle and Wall Decor and More for the hearts.  I used a regular doily and colored it with a yellow stamp pad.  The word discover is from a K&Company sticker pack.  I haven't added any journaling yet.  I will add something later explaining that my Grandson finally discovered how to get the large "rattle" from his jumper into his mouth.  LOL  He was so excited!

sketchabilities sketch

Good Afternoon!

I found some free time this afternoon to work on a sketch from Sketchabilities.  I love their sketch, I like using shapes in different ways.

Their sketch...

My take on it...

I used Life is a Beach to cut the palm trees (2.5) and leaves (2.0).  I used MS Birthday Cartridge for the tiger, camel and giraffe, all cut at 2.5.  I also cut the banner from MS Birthday and welded two pieces together, cut @ 1.  I love the faces my Grandson was making.  He had just come out of the tub.  After I got him dried and dressed I went to clean up his water mess (he LOVES splashing!!).  As soon as I finished his shirt was soaked.  He is drooling buckets, the poor baby.

Lazy Days of Summer LO

Good Morning!

This week at SSD's our theme is Lazy Days of Summer and how we enjoy them.

For me, this was easy.  We spend every weekend possible at the lake.  While I enjoy fishing, I much prefer fishing when the sun is shining and I have my nook in my hand and the blue gills are biting.  :)  A few times a summer the kids will join us for the weekend and camp out.  It's so nice (now that they are all grown) to sit outside by the fire and talk most of the night!

For this layout I only used 2 cartridges, Campin Critters and George and Basic Shapes.  My daughter and I love to read, so I cut out the squirrel @ 4.5.  I added stickles and glossy accents to the squirrel and embossed the book.  I also used liquid pearls for the eyes and nose.

The porcupine was cut @ 4.  I used liquid pearls for his eyes and nose.  I used stickles for the marshmallow and topped it with glossy accents.  I also used glossy accents for the stick.  The fire was cut from the badge layer @ 4.5.  Of course I added stickles to that also.  :)

I made two photo mats using my gypsy.  I welded the deer behind the tree, cut @ 4.5 to a 4.25 x 5.5 rectangle and I also used the raccoon behind the tree, cut at 4.5 to the same size rectangle.   I used liquid pearls for the eyes and nose and glossy accents on the tree.

I cut the deer fishing @ 5.5 and instead of cutting one fish, I cut three of them.  Like the others, I used liquid pearls for the eyes and nose and I added glossy accent to the white "fur".  For the fish I used liquid pearls for the eyes and on one fish I used glossy accents on the head and tail and stickles on the body and tail.

Big Bang!

Good Morning!

This week at SSD,  the design teams is doing "The big bang" theme.   It's also my day to post over at The BugBytes.

For today I made a layout for my Grandson's 1st 4th of July! He is just shy of 6 months old and I can't wait to take him to the parade and see the fireworks! I love the Stand and Salute cartridge for this type of thing.  They have awesome banners and fireworks and rockets!

I used several different cartridge and my gypsy for some welding and hiding contour.

From Stand and Salute:
I cut the banner twice @ 4 and hide every other star and opposite parts on the bottom of the banner on the white paper.  On the red paper I hid all contours.
On the red, white and blue fireworks, that was cut @ 3 and I added some stickles to the center.
The rockets were cut @ 1.5 and I flipped one of the images.  I added white stickles to the "flame" with a touch of red in the center.
The firecrackers were cut @ 2 with red stickles added to them.
The 4th of July was cut @ 4 and I used my white gel pen to add some depth to it.

From Tinkerbell and Friends:

The other two fireworks were cut @ 4 and 3.5.  I added clear stickles to the top layer and then some gems to each "burst".

From MS Birthday Cake:
I cut out the grass @ 1 and welded 4 together for each 12 x 12 page.

From Home Decor:
I cut out the word memories @ 2 and used my white gel pen on that also.

Frosted Designs

Good Morning!

I have another layout today, playing along with Frosted Designs sketch 44.

I had a lot of fun playing with this sketch, but my favorite thing was making a paper "doggy".  My eldest son had a stuffed dog when he was little that he called Doggy.  He wouldn't let it out of his sight and he would not sleep without it.  Once he moved out of my house, he left Doggy behind.  I held onto him not only for the memories, but for when my son has children.  I did not expect to let my youngest son's son play with it, but he loves Doggy I can't say no to him.  He's rather beat up at the moment, but this is Doggy....

I used the head from the sweethearts dog and the body of the bear from A Child's Year and a lot of chalk.  This is what I came up with...

It's not perfect , but it's close.  I showed it to my daughter and she knew exactly what it was.  :)

My layout...
