Ariel!

This week at SweetSassyDiva the Design Team is doing the Disney Theme. My kids are way past that age, but when my daughter was younger, she LOVED the Little Mermaid. The dress she's wearing in this picture (which I did save for her!) was her favorite one and trying to get her to wear something else was a challenge!

I used Disney - Princesses Dreams Come True cartridge and Cricut Craft Room! There is a great blog on how to do faces on in CCR, Cricut Craft Room blog, however with the new build it didn't work correctly for me. So instead I followed the directions but did a Print only and cut it out myself. Ariel isn't a hard shape to cut out. She was cut @ 5 and then I did an extra cut of her hair, flower and top. I added crystal stickles to her hair and yellow stickles on the flower center. I used glossy accents on her top and flower.

In CCR I also cut out Flounder @ 2.5 the same as Ariel and cut him out myself also. (I'm hoping this gets fixed quickly, I hate cutting things out by hand! LOL)

The bottom border was cut @ 7.25 and the frame was cut @ 7.5. Stickles were added where ever I could. :)

To get the picture to fit the frame, I cut the background piece out of scrap paper, but I did NOT lift it off my mat! I lined up where I wanted my picture to show through the frame by laying the picture under the scrap paper and moving it around. Once I picked out what I wanted, I smoothed the picture on the mat and removed the scrap paper and cut again. Perfect every time!! (Sorry I forgot to take pictures of the process, e-mail me to let me know if you need help with this.)

I added a 4.5 X 12 light pink paper and a 1.5 X 12 dark pink strip of paper to add some contrast. With the exception of Ariel, this was one of the simplest LO's I've done in awhile.

Halloween Bags and Pillow boxes

Good Afternoon!

I know I haven't been around all that much the last month or so. In two weeks my Mom and her friend are having a craft fair, so after that, life should (I hope!) get back to normal. While I've been making tons of cards, they really haven't been anything to blog about. The one's the have been, you've seen... I've just made them in duplicates!!

It was suggested that I make something to hold candy in for the craft fair, so I pulled out the book for Wrap It Up and got to work! I've made three different ones, 2 bags and 1 pillowbox.

I couldn't resist the witch bag. It was cut @ 7 in orange and the witch was cut with black sparkled paper using the layer. I used foil tissue paper from Michael's and Eillien's peanut butter kisses.

I added some orange ribbon to tie it up, although you can't see the bow.

The next one I made was the pumpkin bag, cut @ 7 with the layer. I used purple ribbon for this one. Sorry, I could not get Sassy to stay out the pictures!! LOL She LOVES ribbon.

I also did some with Christmas and Halloween paper when I made the pillow boxes. I was trying to do too many things at one time and didn't take pictures right away like I normally do. I gave the Halloween one to my Mom (peanut butter kisses are her favorite), so I don't have a picture of that. It's the same shape as the Christmas one. I did take a circle punch and cut half circle on each flap of one side to make opening it easier.

Fall Basket centerpiece and Flower Shoppe

I've been having fun playing with Flower Shoppe, I love this cartridge! I've also started making basket centerpieces. Juliana Michaels made a beautiful "Basket of Flowers" on the Cricut Circle blog post found here if you're a Circle Member and Michele Kovack made one called "Bucket of flowers" for the Cricut Blog found here.

I found the scarecrow, pumpkin and basket at JoAnns, on sale for 50% off plus my VIP card with another 10% off!

The flowers were cut at 3 and 2.5 and the leaves were cut at 1.5 and 2. Everything was cut from Flower Shoppe.

Happy Haunting

Good Morning!

This week at SweetSassyDiva's the DT is honoring the first day of Autumn (September 22!). Besides watching the leaves change color, Halloween is the next best thing! My kids are grown now, but I still remember all the fun I had taking them trick or treating. I still love watching all the cute kids come to the door. Next year will be even better watching my son with his baby, although there won't be any going door to door for several years yet. Ok, I got a bit off track there, so back to my project! LOL

I made a shape card from the Pumpkin Carvings cartridge using Design Studio. I used the owl cut @ 5, a rectangle shape cut @ 1/2 (from George and basic shapes) and another owl cut @ 5 and welded them all together. On the second owl (on top) I used the hide contour to hide everything except the outside shape. I also cut 2 more owls, again @ 5 using the hide contour to hide everything except the owl on one cut and on the second one (not shown) I hid everything except the outside cut. I cut the last one on brown patterned paper. I also cut the Happy Haunting @ 1.5 and hid the outside shape.

I used Flower Soft on the branches and stickles for the Owl's eyes and beak. I used a white gel pen to add faux stitching to the outside of the oval. I glued the brown patterned paper to the backside of the front of the card. Then I glued down the Happy Haunting.

On the inside of the card using MS Seasonal cart, I cut Happy Halloween @ 2.22.

Happy Halloween!

I'm getting a jump on my Halloween cards this year! I love Paper Doll Dress Up for Halloween, it has so many great cuts!! For this card I did my base card @ 5 x 6.5.I cut a DCWV patterned paper at 4.75 x 6.25 and added an orange ribbon. I cut the skeleton @ 6, the ghost @ 2.75 and the grave stone @ 3. With the exception of using a black marker to make the lines more visible, this was such a simple card, but I think it turned out so cute.

CHA LO

I've been working on so many things lately, between DT posts and craft fair cards I just haven't posted much of what I've done. I'm starting to finally get caught up, so hopefully I'll be able to post more!

This past summer I went to CHA with SweetSassyDiva. I didn't take many pictures, there was just so much to look at, but I did get pictures of when we arrived. lol

New DCWV Fall Harvest Gathering Stack #2

Still using the new DCWV Fall Harvest Stack, first mentioned here, I made more Thanksgiving Cards. While I know I won't use this many cards, my Mom and I have our Craft Fair coming up, so I've been getting ready for that. I also decided to use up as many of my "old" stickers as possible, they are taking up space that could be used for more Cricut "stuff"! LOL All told, I made 45 Thanksgiving cards.

And my personal favorite that will go to my In Laws,

Happy Grandparent's Day

Good Morning!

Come January 2012, I will be a Grandma to a little baby boy! The timing was perfect, we just found out they were having a boy, I've only had Fancy Frames for a short time and Grandparent's Day is just around the corner. It seemed a perfect time to make a brag book for the other new Grandma.

I used 5 different frames, repeating the first one for the back cover also. The front and back were cut @ 5X6.5 and the others were cut @ 4.75X6.25.

On each frame I cut the frame front, the back frame minus the inside cut (hide contour) and a 2nd frame front that I flipped.

The top of each frame was left open to slide pictures into. The outside of the back cover I used hide contour again to the inside cut, so it wasn't a frame. I used my Cinch to punch two holes and put it all together.

I added 3 ribbons to each ring.

I used another frame, cut @ 5X6.5 for a card front and I used my Cricut markers and Lyrical letters to "write" Happy Grandparent's Day".
