1st Birthday!

Good Morning!

I've finished up another sketch from Boys Rule, found here.   I was also able to use the sketch to play along over at StuckOnUSketches!  Over at SOUS the challenge was to switch a letter in the title with a die cut.

I used Art Nouveau for the lettering, cut at 1.5 and Sweet Treats for the number 1, cut at 2.  I used a candle for the letter "i", cut at 1.75 from A Child's Year.  The cupcake is from Paper Wishes, the stickers are from my stash and of course I used stickles.  I used the MS punch around the page for the stripped paper, I don't recall what the name of the punch is.

Creative Scrappers Sketch

Creative Scrappers posted a sketch on January 6th, and since I'm so far behind on sketches I wanted to do, I decided to start with the most recent.

The sketch...

I think this is the first time I ever did a layout that the shapes were odd, it was actually pretty fun!  The pictures are from a month ago or so, my son and I were taking pictures of my Grandson.  His parents decided that they didn't want him holding his hairbrush in his hand, so they took it away.  I knew what was going to happen, so I was ready with my camera!!  :)  He may have only been 10 months old, but he pitched a royal fit and shocked his parents.... while his Grandma sat there laughing and snapping pictures.  :)  Sometimes it's good to be "old".

My Grandson is starting to walk and Trouble was so scared!!  lol  He's such a rough and tumble boy and Trouble is such a scaredy cat.  Seriously, I was shocked that he came out from under my bed while my Grandson was over.  Trouble is 3 years old now and I have friends who have only seen him twice!  If you click on the picture you can see the fear in his eyes.  Silly girl should've known I was right there to protect her.  :)

Boys Rule Sketch

Good Morning,

I'm going to make an effort to start crafting again.  I had been working on my family tree for the last 2 months or so.  It was something I wanted to do for my Mom for Christmas, although it didn't turn out quite like I planned.  Anyway, up until Christmas that's what I was doing instead of crafting. 

If you seen yesterday's post, then you know that on January 1st Rummy died.  That took my heart right out of crafting since he was always with him in my scrap room.  I know the only way to try and move forward is to force myself to continue with life, so I will make more of an effort.

I realize some people (non cat people) think I'm nuts for being this upset, but Rummy was a special cat... uh, excuse me, a special furry four legged human!  I've never met a cat who hugged quite like him, with both paws snug around my neck while rubbing his face against mine.  He was my baby, there's no getting around that... he wouldn't hug another person like that.  As soon as I can, I will do a RIP page for him.

The picture I used is of my daughter Liz and my Grandson Bentlee.  She had brought over her ipad and since he loves having his picture (and video's of himself) taken, she took a bunch of them and then showed him the pictures.

Flip down stack card

Good Morning!

I'm always looking for different and interesting ways to make cards.  The other day I found a tutorial over at Splitcoast Stampers, (here ) and thought this would make a wonderful card for my husband.
A small-medium side story...I had three cats, two of which loved to craft with me.  This summer we found out that my oldest one Rummy (black and white) had cancer and they only gave him a few months to live.  He/we were very lucky and he was never in any pain, although he was only skin and bones.  New Years Eve he started breathing hard and stopped eating.  He made it until New Years Day at 5:25 pm.  He died at home and my husband and I were with him the whole time, petting him when he let me and talking to him the whole time, and while not pleasant (of course) he did not suffer and left rather calmly.  Which is way more than I can say about how I handled it.  Despite how bad my husband felt, Rummy was the first pet we got together, he put his feelings on hold and helped me cope, sort of.  Which brings me to why I wanted to make a special card for him.  So....


I started out with a 8 X 9.25 piece of card stock, which I scored at 4in.

I cut out a piece of patterned paper at 7.75 X 9 for the top of the card.  Using my spellbinders, I also cut 5 light pink scalloped squares at 2.25.

I also cut out a small piece of paper at .75 X 3 and folded it in half and glued it together.  Next I stuck the end not folded into my circle punch to round the edges.

The rest of this is a bit hard for me to describe, you might want to check out the link above!   With the wrong side up, line up 3 of the 5 squares.  Scs uses double sided tape, I just used my pink atg gun.  Keeping the squares even, run tape down the length of all three squares.

Next I took two pieces of ribbon and with the bottom square a tad bit closer to the middle square than the top square I attached the ribbon to the tape and cut off anything that hung over the edges.

I took another square and glued it over the bottom square.  Then I added the tab I made with my circle punch  and attached it to the center square.

I added my last square over the middle, which is the top piece that shows on the card.  Note that it is upside down at first.  The very top square is what will be glued to the card front.

Since I didn't have any photo turns or magnetic circles I had to use velcro tabs.  It worked, but I really didn't need anything that strong!  All that was left was attaching the top square to the card front and decorating the squares.  It was a pretty easy card to make, the hardest part was getting the ribbons even.
